From Guest Blogger Paula Sheamus: Clean Energy Revolution

In recent years, the world has been desperately calling for a change in the way we use nature to make our lives better, feed, work, travel and generate energy. A lot of people took up the idea of green living, eating, cleaning… generally, anything that can be green, meaning it does not do harm to nature in any way.

Now the world is starting a clean energy revolution. Since we use lots of nature’s finite resources like fossil fuels and fresh water, we need to think about developing infinite resources that will successfully replace those resources that are available in limited amounts. Clean energy revolution deals with just that matter. Renewable or alternative energy, both names refer to the same thing: unlimited energy resources that will preserve natural resources.

There are a few ways of generating renewable energy using the power of nature without harming the ecological balance. Here we offer two of them.

Solar Power

Solar prower is widely used nowadays. You can see solar panels on almost every house today. This type of renewable energy is used for cooking, heating and the production of electricity. The way solar power works is by trapping the sunlight into the cells of the solar panel and then convert it into electricity. Sunlight can also hit thermal panels that later heat air or water.

The benefits of solar power are that it will exist as longs as there is the Sun. What’s more, solar power does not pollute the air in any way, nor does it contaminate water resources. In contrast, combustion of fossil fuels produces a chemical reaction that is released into the air we breathe.

A huge downside of this type of renewable energy is that it cannot be produced at night when the sun is not shining. This includes cloudy days as well.

Wind Power

Wind power is used by means of wind turbines that start rotating when the wind is blowing. Normally, windmills are built on wind farms. When the turbine blades rotate, an electrical generator helps convert this into electrical current. In the past, wind energy was mostly used to make mechanical machinery perform physical work. Today, wind power can provide electricity to individual homes and isolated locations.

The pros of using wind power are several but the biggest one is that this type of renewable energy does not pollute the environment. Moreover, we will never run out of wind, or so it seems.

A disadvantage of wind power is that when the wind ceases or its speed decreases, little or no electricity will be produced.

The greatest thing about renewable energy is that today many people can afford to take advantage of this resource. For the past decade the cost of clean energy technologies has decreased immensely, including solar panels, wind power, electric vehicles and LED lights. What does this mean for the world’s energy economy? Simply that this is a clean energy revolution. Even though the percentage of the share of these technologies is still small it is expanding rapidly.

For this account price falls in the various renewable energy sources such as solar panels, for example. It is said to have fallen by 75% since 2008. This is a huge decrease in the cost. As we already mentioned, solar panels are a common feature on rooftops today.

To help the new energy markets expand, there have been several energy events. For example, UK hosted the first Community Energy Fortnight event in 2013 that was supported by thousands of people and the Government. In fact, 60,000 signed the petition in support for renewable energy. As it name implies, the event lasted two weeks during which more than 30 events took place. The Community Energy Fortnight was initiated by the Community Energy Coalition and included members such as the Church of England, National Farmers Union, National Trust, Friends of the Earth, etc.

This event shows that people are inclined to use clean energy and are willing to make some changes for good. As we cannot rely on environmentally damaging and expensive fossil fuels forever, we really need to create a new pollution-free and infinite energy resource that will guarantee a future for all of us.

  1. Energy is the basic need of every country and renewable energy resources are very important for the energy future. Bio fuel is the renewable source of energy and made from bio waste material with the help of briquetting machines which are specially made for recycling bio waste by an Eco friendly method.
