Survey on Green Issues Shows Lots of Emotion
Here are the results of a survey a friend of mine conducted of a few hundred random businesspeople regarding their stand on “green issues.” Using his (really cool) Internet presentation technology called PresenterNet, he asked people, “How important are green issues to you?” and requested that they rate themselves on a scale from 1 – 10.
While the average was right about in the middle (5.37), it goes without saying that many people were in the extremes: 1–2, or 9–10. The interesting thing, to me at least, is that when he verified people’s answers with them (for example, “So you rated yourself as a 2 (or 9), correct?”) those “extremists” almost uniformly expressed both pride and rancor in their choice. “You’re damn right that’s the way I feel!” people would often shout. “All the green stuff is hype!” or “We’re destroying our only home!”
Again, interesting stuff.
