Financing of Solar PV – Cutting Edge Concepts
Frequent commenter and 2GreenEnergy supporter Stephen Levy, professor at the University of Tennessee, wanted my opinion on this article he co-wrote in Solar Today on micro-financing of solar PV. As I told him, I’m not really a finance guy, and thus my viewpoints have limited value. Having said that, the basic premises here are certainly correct:
• Many people wish they could invest in solar, but run into one or more insurmountable challenges along the way: issues with siting, regulation, ROI, etc.
• There are a growing number of options that enable such people to make small investments in solar that isn’t built onto their roofs.
• When such investments are aggregated, they make a significant difference in a region’s implementation of solar, and thus in lowering its carbon footprint associated with energy.
I hope readers find this intriguing, and encourage anyone interested to contact Stephen directly at the university’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
