From Guest-Blogger Jess: 6 Top Electric Cars And Why You Should Buy One
Electric car options have exploded in the past couple of years. Prices have become more reasonable, while quality and features constantly improve. The government has also begun issuing a $7,500 federal income tax credit for qualified fully motor and battery-powered vehicles. These cars have finally become appealing enough to seriously consider buying over (or in addition to) a gas-powered car. Here are the top electric car options and why they’re so great:
1. Nissan Leaf

Some say the Nissan Leaf gives you the perfect commuter-car experience. A light car that’s plenty fun to drive, the Leaf has a good range for the daily, average distance drivers out there. Although, the charge-time may frustrate you if you want to make any longer trips, like on the weekends to get away for a bit. But a new charger is supposedly on its way later in the year, which may make up for the problem.
2. Ford Focus EV

The Ford Focus EV holds the title of most efficient 5-person car in the United States. It’s also the first EV (electric vehicle) built on an existing model’s platform. This helps keep the overall price down on the vehicle, as it cuts manufacturing costs. One possible downside to this car would be the lack of electric feel.
3. Toyota RAV 4 EV
Another crossover, the Toyota RAV 4 EV mixes Tesla’s technology with Toyota’s Model. Tesla’s making its way into the SUV market with this car. A fast car, you can go from 0-60 in a mere 7 seconds, pretty good for an electric car. With a range of about 100 miles, you can make some decent trips in this car. With a good amount of leg room and seating for 4.5 adults, you don’t have to worry about lack of comfort for longer trips.
4. Tesla Model S
The Tesla Model S might take the cake in this article. With an outrageous amount of technological features and capabilities that even surprise car geeks, this car offers an exciting option for anybody looking for the greatest electric ride. Despite its look, this car can seat 5 adults and 2 children. The Model S comes at a higher price, though. Perhaps consider buying one through a buy here pay here dealer to avoid having to go through extra steps.
5. BMW Active E
Who doesn’t want a BMW? Now you can have the best of both worlds with the BMW Active E, delivering electric power with BMW engineering. It sounds like this car is a blast, and why should we expect otherwise? The car comes with all the comfort, luxury, and performance usually missing from EVs. You know you’re driving a BMW when you’re in this vehicle.
6. Mitsubishi i
A nice, cheaper (relatively) option for electric car consumers, the Mitsubishi i offers a simple, efficient and lightweight answer to the EV market. The range on this vehicle doesn’t quite match the others at only 62 miles, but if you don’t plan on driving more than 40-50 miles a day, you’ve got the perfect option right here. It’s also the only car on this list under $30,000.
So if you’re looking for a new electric car, see if you can find any of these for sale in your area. Any one of these will give you a fantastic EV solution.
