Sungevity Offers Solar Photovoltaics to an Appropriate Audience in Santa Barbara
I just got back from the annual Summer Solstice Festival in Santa Barbara, CA. Needless to say, the demographic make-up of these folks is distinctly left-of-center; it’s a fairly “Age of Aquarius” type of crowd—one in which Fox News fans are exceedingly scarce. In fact, I spoke with a guy whose organization expects a new dawn of cosmic consciousness and a new Teacher to spread the word; check out the link above if you’re interested; my words are not doing it justice.
I also spoke with an incredible sculptor, Charles Sherman, whose work celebrates the act of creating, and it’s truly brilliant stuff, IMO. As I stood there talking to him, I told him how it recalls to me what Friedrich Nietzsche wrote about existentialism, creation, and the human condition. Coincidentally, I had mentioned existentialism in a post the other day, and this quote speaks to the subject perfectly:
In human beings, creature and creator are united. In man is material stuff, fragments, excess, clay, mud, nonsense, chaos, but in man there is also creator, artist, hammer hardness, the divinity of the spectator and the seventh day.
In keeping with the needs and wants of an eco-consciousness audience, there were also numerous displays of energy efficiency solutions and various types of renewables, e.g., Sungevity, California-based solar electricity company that designs home solar systems; finances new systems with its Solar Lease program; and manages system installation, maintenance, and performance. I hope they got plenty of good sales leads.
