Some Weighty Organizations Believe Climate Disruption Is a Big Deal
I just got an email from an associate who attached a scanned copy of this article (here and here) on the Pentagon’s viewpoint on the national security threat posed by climate disruption; they seem especially concerned about the imminent shortages of potable water. The comment he included is something I could have written myself:
The attached article from my Sunday paper got me excited, not because it presented anything new (it doesn’t), but because it speaks in terms of tangibles as threats to us folk….While water is a lot of the article’s focus, the direct link to food and the like gets people’s attention…..It just struck me that there is a difference between the Pentagon’s saying something and an old fart like me saying the same thing.
Good point. Entities like the U.S. Pentagon and the world’s largest insurance companies can’t afford to be wrong on matters as important as this. Eventually, their findings will mean something to the common American.
