Lopsided Reporting on the Coal Ash Eco-Disaster
A friend sent me this piece on the environmentally disastrous coal ash accident that occurred earlier this year.
I wrote in return: Yes. I saw that recent “60 Minutes” piece in which Leslie Stahl (and the editors) totally barbecued the CEO of Duke Energy, Lynn Good. I’m sure that Duke somehow mis-estimated how vituperative the piece was going to be, or they would have immediately declined the interview, like they characteristically do.
I have to laugh when I see Leslie Stahl, arguably the world’s most famous eco-prostitute, in action. One night she’s convincing six million gullible Americans that cleantech/renewables is a worthless rip-off, enabled only by the tax-payer stupidity and government lies; the next night she’s explaining the horrors of maintaining the status quo in the energy industry. What next? We can only wait and see.
If you were worth over $20 million like Ms. Stahl, and you were confronted with assignments that nullify whatever personal integrity you had left, I think you would say, “No, boss, I’m not doing that. It’s wrong.”
