Tesla Tackles Global Warming
A dear friend from the southern part of Germany writes: I thought this article might interest you. Somebody’s gotta do it! America’s Congress is ignoring one of the biggest problems of all time, global warming/climate change. America’s entrepreneurs, however, are not.
That’s wonderful. Not coincidentally, I have a chapter in my most recent book, Bullish on Renewable Energy, devoted to this entire idea. That is, the world’s most successful business people, Musk among them, are not going to sit around and watch this civilization fall to pieces.
Nothing will stop the great innovators, the great doers, when it comes to solving this problem–especially given that we’re so close. If electricity from renewable resources cost $0.25/kWh to produce, I’d say we have a serious problem. In truth, however, the current cost of energy from wind is far less expensive than its nearest competitor–and that’s without government subsidies.
I have every confidence that the good guys are going to win here; the question, of course, is: How much damage are we going to do in the process?
