The History of Oil
When we think of political humor here in the U.S., we think of television personalities like Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert, and John Oliver, as well as a long line of stand-up comedians that may have begun with Will Rogers and Lenny Bruce before being incarnated into George Carlin and the many folks who have taken up that mantle since.
In my opinion, however, there has never been anyone who even remotely resembles British comedian and political activist Robert Newman. I defy anyone to show me a way to learn more and laugh harder (at the same time) than to sit through one of his masterful performances.
As I’ve noted in the past, of most relevance to us here at 2GreenEnergy is his piece called “The History of Oil,” which I’ve liberally quoted in a few of my books on renewable energy and the battle to replace fossil fuels. Again, I urge readers to take 45 minutes out of their lives and check that out. My advice: bring a notepad and a box of Kleenex; you’ll laugh until you cry.
For those who wish to go even deeper, here is a link to additional textual information on the subject, also written by Newman.
