Renewable Energy Fraud — Further Discussion

Renewable Energy Fraud --- Further DiscussionHere’s a further piece of the conversation that began when a young lady introduced me to an idea for converting compressed air into energy that her boss, the company’s CEO, had invented.  At issue, of course, is: “Where does the energy to compress the air come from?”  Their answer: the machine produces more energy than it consumes; it makes its own energy. Ouch.  We’re off to a bad start.

After I spurned the idea, as it violates the first and second laws of thermodynamics, the company’s rep writes:

I will not try to shake your beliefs as to what is possible and what is impossible…..nor do I “sell.”   All my life I have been told I “teach,” as I enjoy helping people.

With all of the work that (inventor/CEO) has put into this project of converting air into electricity and the backing that he already has from top banks, investors, and other interested parties, I feel it is very real.  You were not on the conference call long enough to learn about them!  (He) is accomplishing something that Tesla hoped to do…. We do thank you for your brief time with us on the conference call this morning and wish you success in finding that “elegant solution” that does not use fossil fuels, gives off no emissions, and leaves no carbon footprint…..and more.   It is a pity you will not be sharing in the pleasure of introducing this technology to others and making a huge impact on the environment and economy.

I respond:

Thanks very much, and I can see that you are a most sincere and wonderful person.  But I’m a man of science, and the assertion that this device produces more energy than it consumes is not credible.  You could have said that you have a black box that turns straw into gold or brings people back from the dead and it wouldn’t be any less believable to me.

Having said all this, I hope you’ll stay in touch with me.  I most sincerely hope I’m wrong, and that he is the guy who will rewrite all (literally all) of the physics that humankind has developed over the millennia (mostly over the last 400 years).
