Victory for the Wind Energy Industry in Scotland, and What I Hope To Be My Last Comment on Donald Trump
I expect to make this the last public remark I’ll ever be forced to make about Donald Trump—and I mention it only because of its relevance to the world of renewable energy: Trump has lost his court battle in Scotland, in which he sued Scotland over the country’s decision to build a wind farm in the water that neighbors the billionaire’s golf resort.
From “The Scotsman”:
WWF Scotland director Lang Banks said: “This result is good news for Scotland and for all those interested in cutting carbon emissions and creating jobs.
“Once again the courts have seen through Trump’s flimsy, misguided attempts to frustrate Scotland’s ambition to create clean power and green jobs. It’s now time for Mr Trump to stop wasting any more time and money on this case.”
Scottish Green MSP Patrick Harvie said: “This spurious legal action has gone on too long already and we cannot allow Trump’s inflated ego to delay our renewables industry a moment longer.”
Right on.
Let me end with a question to American voters: Maybe I missed something here, but don’t we want our presidents to be kind and likeable people—or at least to make an effort to appear to be? Even from what we can see about Trump, he’s clearly one of the most repulsive people on the face of the Earth. Does it seem like a good idea to elect a person of such overtly despicable character to the highest office in the land?
