Streamlining the Solar PV Permitting Process
As I’ve reported frequently, part of the reason for Germany’s boom in solar PV is that the permitting process for the individual homeowner is trivial. Contrast this with the U.S. where the same action can take months.
Fortunately, it looks like the opponents of solar will soon have one fewer tool at their disposal to impose frustrations and delays on Americans interested in using solar energy to lower their overall carbon footprint. Check out this story on California’s Assembly Bill 2188, which requires local governments across California to adopt a faster, easier permitting process for residential solar systems by the end of September.
Another step in the right direction.
