From Guest Blogger Christopher Austin: Zero Emissions Vehicles–Environmentally Clean and Fuel Saving

Zero Emissions Vehicles--Environmentally Clean and Fuel SavingGlobal warming and the energy crisis has become big news and is one of the biggest motivators for car manufacturers to start producing more environmentally friendly vehicles.  The electric car has become the first mass produced alternative to the combustion engine. An electrically powered vehicle produces zero emissions although there may be some produced during the process of making the electricity to power the car.

The best option would be to recharge your vehicle through electricity produced from solar panels but this is not possible for the majority of people. However, electricity from the grid is becoming cleaner each day; minimizing the effect you are having on the environment.

Cheaper to Run

Despite controversy regarding how much better an electric car is for the environment there is no doubt that it is cheaper to run. Research has shown that the average driver will save between $750 and $1200 a year on the cost of refilling their vehicle; this is compared to a new compact vehicle, powered with gasoline. The actual saving fluctuates according to the cost of electricity where you live. Every time the fuel price rises by as little as fifty cents and gasoline prices do not, it is possible to save another $200 per year! Many areas are also introducing cheap, overnight rates to make recharging your car as cheap as possible.

Fortunately the biggest vehicle users in the country are centered on cities which offer some of the cleanest electricity. The ‘dirtiest’ electricity is in the more remote regions where there are fewer vehicles. Even these areas are gradually being provided with cleaner electricity; this is a fuel source which will only become cleaner with time.

Oil Dependency

Across the majority of locations there will be cost savings and a reduction in emissions.  Even those areas which offer a negligible saving will be using less oil. Anything which reduces the world’s dependency on oil is good for the climate and for the health of the planet. Reducing oil dependency is essential for the future of the planet and for the continued economic well being of every country in the world. By driving an electric vehicle you are helping to make the world a better place. The latest reports can identify the approximate saving you will make based on where you live.

Popularity

An important factor in the decision to buy electric instead of a gasoline powered vehicle is the increasing popularity of this option. Manufacturers are producing more and more electric cars PPCGB each year; they have more cars in the design stage than ever before and even the government is actively promoting the switch in car engineering. This increase in popularity means that more vehicles will be produced and this will drive down the cost of producing these vehicles; this can be translated into vehicles which are cheaper to purchase and easier to maintain.

This increase in interest will also fuel more research and development which may bring a huge variety of possibilities to light within the next few years.  Each new development will ensure the electric cars of the future outperform the gasoline cars of today; whilst producing zero emissions!

Alternate Transport

It is essential to remember that there are other forms of transport which can still be used and are, potentially, better for the environment and more efficient than the current range of electric cars. Cycling and walking produce no harmful emission, whilst taking the train or using a motorbike is likely to create fewer emissions than the process of creating electricity does.

What this does mean is that there are now several different options to consider when choosing your next form of transport. Electric vehicles are set to become the vehicle of choice for the future and their emissions will decrease as cleaner electricity is produced.
