The Coal Empire Fights Back
From an email I just received from the League of Conservation Voters: Craig — BREAKING: Minutes ago, the White House announced a temporary pause to new coal mining leases on public lands, effectively stopping production of at least 3.5 billion tons of coal! The coal industry is going ballistic.
This could be huge — but it’s going to fall to the environmental movement to make sure this temporary pause on coal is made permanent. Here’s the thing: we didn’t know this was coming.
I want to decommission the remaining 410 coal plants in the U.S. as much as anyone, but did you just say you didn’t know this was coming? I would have bet $1000 against a dime that these people would tap into their vast spheres of influence to fight this tooth and nail.
Be this as it may, for anyone who wants to make a contribution to help make this ban permanent, here’s a link.
