Meat centered diets are not good for the environment or the people who eat them. Producing meat requires far more land and water than than producing plant centered foods. I’m not stating that everyone should become a vegetarian; doing so is a personal choice. But if meat is to be included in diets, it should be only a minor portion of diets.

And if we are going to have beef in our diets, more careful handling of it in process would be good also. Having to recall a million lbs. of beef at a crack costs somewhere around 850 cows and all that goes into making them.
A better source of protein might be small local aquaponics setups. One of my wife’s coworkers (former as of today) sets them up as a hobby.

We don’t actually need animal protein. But if people want it, fish would be better than red meat for a number of reasons, including environmental. Aquaponics may be a good way to go because it wouldn’t further deplete the already depleted fisheries.
