Breakthrough in Wind Energy?

Breakthrough in Wind Energy? It’s a shame when total BS is represented as some sort of technology breakthrough. Here’s a development in wind power that couldn’t possibly work as advertised.  Conventional turbines extract about 80% of the total theoretically available energy from a swept area that’s hundreds of times greater than this device.  The claim here?  Because they’re thinner than a regular wind turbine and have no blades, more of them can fit into a space, meaning more electricity can be generated while taking up less real estate.

Completely untrue.

Also, it’s worth noting that humor often resides alongside idiocy.  Some people find traditional wind turbines to be a blight on the landscape; it’s funny to imagine what they would say about these sticks.

I do not understand how such nonsense can even be proposed, but I’ve seen other harebrained things.

There is a widely advertised device that one puts around the water line where it enters the house. It is supposed to have some effect on the water molecules which eliminates the need for a water softener.

Then there was the special distributor cap for car engines. It delivered “hot” electricity (voltage) to each plug as it fired, and “cold” electricity (current) to the other plugs to energize the fuel.

I suspect that the current fad to inflate tires with nitrogen instead of air is similar nonsense. Air is about 80% nitrogen anyway.

For a once popular patent medicine which was mostly alcohol, check this:

BS of the literal kind i.e. out of the back end of a bull would be a more useful source of energy – anaerobic digesters and gasification systems are getting better all the time!
