The American Meteorological Society Reports on Climate Change

The American Meteorological Society Reports on Climate Change

For those who might be looking for one-stop shopping when it comes to the status of global warming of both the atmosphere and the oceans, here’s an article that I can recommend on a report published by the American Meteorological Society (AMS).  Note that it ties together temperature gradients in the ocean depths, sea-level rise, and CO2 concentrations, as well as the rising temperature of the atmosphere at all parts of the globe.

The AMD motto:  “Strengthening the weather, water, and climate community since 1919.”  Obviously a bunch of commie radicals.  Actually, 1919 was smack dab in the middle of the period of U.S. history in which the anarchists were possible; yeah, that’s the ticket.  🙂

Most people claim to be aware of the perilous self-imposed circumstances we are now catapulting towards but it does seem that those who are in the best position and most capable to take ownership of the subject, apply visionary leadership and mobilise a modern era technological response through demanding policy initiatives, are either indifferent about it at best, or in total denial at worse.

The world’s best and brightest researchers, scientists, physicists and engineers have all of the scientific resources necessary to tackle and reverse greenhouse gas emissions through technological innovation to replace fossil fuel generation in all of its forms with modern era generation science, but they are missing international mobilising policies, and funding.

Big corporations are deafeningly silent on this point also. I can’t figure out why this is so. The world is crying out for new clean energy technologies to power our future, and the opportunities seem boundless for new entrants to this sector to step up.

It is not beyond us collectively to demand from our leaders, the development of endurable visionary generation technologies that are safe; non-polluting; scalable; commercially viable, and easily deployable almost anywhere and will satisfy fully, the global future (today) energy imperative of the availability of “low cost and abundant clean energy to all people and new age business development” everywhere.

Perhaps one reason for the lack of wide interest in the greenhouse gas debate may be that many people worldwide might mistakenly believe that the debate is no longer relevant because of the hysteria surrounding current renewable energy technologies convincing many that these technologies are in themselves the quantum of global policy response to greenhouse gas emissions.

If this is even partly true, it seems we still have a lot of work to do as educators and commentators, and we better move quickly.
