RIP, Tom Hayden, and Thanks for the Encouragement
As political activists, especially those with an anti-war bent, mourn the death of Tom Hayden, it’s a good time to remember the incredible importance of strong-willed people in determining the course of history. The war in Vietnam ended when the common American decided that he had had enough—but from what source did that “common American” derive that conviction? In large measure, it came from the powerful speech and bold actions of people like Hayden, MLK, and a handful of others.
This is a great reminder of the power we all have to make a difference in the world. Never minimize the power that you hold as an individual.
