Transportation Innovator/Visionary

When innovative transportation companies wish to tap 2GreenEnergy’s consulting capabilities, what they’re asking for, whether they know it at the time or not, is to open a dialog with Dan Sturges, 30-year veteran in cutting-edge transportation solutions.  Perhaps best known for the role he played as the father of the neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV), Dan’s been a long-time 2GreenEnergy “Associate,” and stands ready to jump into any project associated with mass transit, electric and other alt-fuel transportation, vehicles for urban commuting and package delivery, car sharing, ride sharing, microrentals, hybrid drivetrains, and much more.

Here’s an interview in which Dan talks about some of his current viewpoints on this industry.

    Craig,

Congratulations. Dan Sturges would certainly be valuable source of information and guidance for any hopeful transportation innovator.

The transport industry is in the process of redefining itself, and it’s very difficult to predict the eventual outcome. Like all industries, transportation isn’t easy to predict.

Automation, driver-less vehicles, car sharing, smaller vehicles may become reality, or remain just another seemingly logical idea rejected by the illogical way humans decide the consumer choices.

The first completely automated industry in the world, was set up in 1926 by a Canadian alcohol producer. The plan was very logical, bars would be set up along the US border without bar staff and beverages would be easily and cheaply obtained from coin operated machines. Simple, convenient and efficient.

Naturally, the plan failed ! Only when the machines were replaced by bar staff did the customers return, despite the higher prices. humans it seems, like to deal with humans.

Visionary’s like Dan Sturges challenge our thinking and help inspire creativity.

Just my thinking, but I believe the best advice for hopefuls into this industry is not to design a new transport system (there’s really only one Elon Musk) but concentrate on developing superior, innovative components.
