Coal Is On Its Way Out
According to this article, soon-to-end 2016 will mark the third consecutive year that the international demand for coal has fallen. This is particularly good news, in that the development of carbon capture and sequestration technology has stalled (as if that’s a surprise).
This supports my theory that the migration to renewable energy is happening rapidly, regardless of our lack of concern for the environment. Pure market economics is driving this trend, and there’s not a soul on Earth who can change that. Donald Trump’s promise to put coal miners back to work is “as worthless as a degree from Trump University,” to quote (Republican nominee for president in 2012) Mitt Romney.
