True Dedication To Environmental Stewardship
It’s always pleasing to know that most companies that put on an eco-friendly face actually do walk the walk. Tesla, e.g., pays its employees to bike to work, resulting in even fewer vehicle miles driven than these people would be racking up without the incentive.
Of course, one sees enormous lots filled with bicycles at work places and universities all over California; it’s been trending in this direction for decades, and it’s extremely popular at this point.
Here’s a mode of commuting I didn’t know existed until I interviewed Jason Scorse for “Is Renewable Really Doable?” We were walking around Oakland after we spoke, and I noticed a huge dock on the eastern side of the (San Francisco) bay, loaded with kayaks. When I asked Dr. Scorse, “What’s up with that?” he explained that lots of people who work in the city kayak back and forth. Gotta love it.
