In Renewables, China Picks Up the Baton that the U.S. Dropped
As pictured here, the Chinese province of Qinghai used only wind, solar and hydroelectric power to supply its population of 5.8 million for seven consecutive days.
The Chinese are making incredible progress in this arena, and that’s good news for the planet, given that the U.S. has abdicated its leadership position in this space. While the U.S. is trying (without success) to bring back jobs in coal mines, and perhaps re-establishing its might in the manufacturing of buggy-whips and transistor radios, the Chinese economy is booming, as they further extend their lead in the defining industry of the 21st Century.
Craig,
I’m sorry to be the one to burst your bubble, but the PRC economy is no longer ‘booming’ !
Likewise, cheery little bit’s of propaganda about the PRC’s efforts concerning power generation, are designed for the consumption of the gullible, and those desperate to believe in a benevolent dragon.
In fact, the dragon is neither benevolent nor malevolent. An expert with propaganda, the dragon cynically feeds sino-philes the sort of information they want to hear.
By the end of this year, the PRC will have added a number of new coal fired power stations to equal the entire US capacity. Within five years the PRC will equal the world total coal usage.
Billions sre being spent on widening snd deepening inland waterways to allow Australian coal to be shipped directly into the heart of China.
Beware of dragons !
