Breakthrough in Solar Energy?

20170422_130548I had a pleasant call with a woman from Chicago just now, who sent me this document, outlining an invention in solar energy ostensibly made by a gentleman in South Korea.  Upon reviewing it, I wrote:

Thanks, but this is fraudulent.  The power derived from a solar device is a function of the solar power incident on that device.  Current efficiencies are about 25%.  To say that this device is 100 times more efficient is nonsensical.

If this gentleman raises money from investors based on this claim, he’ll have two problems:

I don’t know the laws in South Korea, but in the U.S., this is a felony, and he’ll very likely go to prison.

Even if he can evade the law, he’ll have to contact people who don’t have a junior high school-level command of basic science.  I’m aware that there are people that ignorant, as they came out in swarms in our November 2016 presidential election. But most of them are strapped for cash, which is, in fact, what informed many of their votes.

OK, that was a joke, but seriously, my advice to you is to get as far away from this as you possibly can.
