U.S. To Promote Fossil Fuel Consumption at Global Warming Conference

amtrak-train-derailmentThe U.S. has dumped more carbon into the atmosphere than any other on the globe…but we’re not content merely to be the only one on Earth not participating in the Paris Accord on climate change.  For us, just jumping off the train isn’t enough; we need to actively derail it.

That’s why, when the United Nations global warming conference convenes next week in Bonn, Germany, the Trump administration will be hard at work promoting coal, natural gas and nuclear energy as an answer.

From this article in the New York Times:

The program is billed as a discussion of how American energy resources, particularly fossil fuels, can help poor countries meet electricity needs and drive down greenhouse gas emissions. Entitled “The Role of Cleaner and More Efficient Fossil Fuels and Nuclear Power in Climate Mitigation,” it will feature speakers from Peabody Energy, a coal company; NuScale Power, a nuclear engineering firm; and Tellurian, a liquefied natural gas exporter.

“As the world seeks to reduce emissions while promoting economic prosperity, fossil fuels will continue to play a central role in the energy mix,” a preview of the Nov. 13 presentation says.

Why sit on the sidelines when you can aggressively attack the people who are working so diligently to prevent climate catastrophe?

    Craig,

No one, (except the very naive) believes the Paris Accord meant anything more than a “Symbolic” pantomime.

Curiously, the most ardent and vocal supporters of the Paris Accord have seldom read the entire agreement, let alone studied the document objectively.

Tell you what, let’s put your convictions to the test shall we ?

Could you live for one week without using any oil industry products ?

No, of course you couldn’t, anymore than you would refrain from calling the Fire Service if your house caught fire because the fire tender was powered by diesel !

You just like having a villain to hiss !

Craig dont be distracted from the main global energy generation and GHG mitigation technology development game which is being played out behind the scenes as it should and needs to be.

This challenge of course has well defined technological goals and imperatives in place that are very achievable (and will be acheived) in the near to medium term, that simply put will cut the amount of greenhouse gases going into the atmosphere to insignificant levels and at the same time provide for an enduring and massive clean, safe, scalable, and low cost generation technology to satisfy the future growth demands and needs of all nations and peoples going forward, in perpetuity.

This technology challenge is already well advanced and largely in the hands of some consortiums from three countries actively engaged in this space.

Not surprisingly also, is that MarcoPolo is spot on with his Paris Accord (Renewable Energy Technologies) critique, which is an entirely different debate to the critical future power generation technologies issue that I am referring to.

Of course, a person’s use of any product produced or transported with fossil fuels must cancel any validity in their criticism of any fossil fuel industry. I’ve rarely encountered such unassailable logic.

Thanks. He could have challenged, “You don’t like our polluted air? Fine. Don’t breathe it.” Equally ridiculous.
