Americans’ Perverse Attitudes Toward Immigration
News flash, Dr. Tyson: Tragically, we simply don’t care. Our xenophobia and love of scapegoating is far more powerful than your logic.

Divide and conquer is an old game.
Yes. It’s hard to believe that we still fall for it.
Craig,
I’m not sure what you are hoping to achieve by posting such a quote.
Hispanic migrants account for more than 50% of organized crime gangs in the USA, with a many many as 300,000 illegal Hispanic migrants involved in gang related criminal activity.
My point is not to denigrate Hispanic migrants, but to highlight the danger of posting such comparisons. Such a comment invites a reaction and may lead to negative, even bitter comparisons about the backgrounds of migrants.
To many, it would seem logical to only allow migrants from the ethic groups to whom the Nobel Prize winners belong. Even more contentiously, such a quote would seem to argue for a migration system based on judging the value of the migrants ability to win such accolades.
Sanctimonious, but poorly thought through observations can reap unintended consequences.
