Pruitt Is Right To Protect Himself from Bodily Attack
From Time Magazine: The head of the Environmental Protection Agency has broken months of silence about his frequent premium-class flights at taxpayer expense, saying he needs to fly first class because of unpleasant interactions with other travelers. Pruitt told the New Hampshire Union Leader he had some “incidents” on flights shortly after his appointment by President Donald Trump last year.
Now, as you can expect, most Americans are furious about this, but here’s another way to look at it.
Pruitt is one of the most reviled people in this country; I’m going to guess he’s fourth (after Trump, Pence and Sessions?). There are literally millions of people here who would love the opportunity to knock his teeth out; this is why he has is surrounded by a gaggle of body guards.
If your job were systematically destroying the environment and poisoning the American people to enable billionaires to get richer, I dare say you’d be watching your back as well.
Craig,
So it’s the victims fault eh?
Scott Pruitt has been appointed to his position by the elected representatives of the American people. As such he should not be subject to the threat of violence. Even as a human being and fellow citizen should any American be fearful of the threat of physical violence from anyone.
If it’s true and “millions of people here who would love the opportunity to knock his teeth out” because they disagree with his politics, then that’s a damning indictment on his opponents and all Americans should be ashamed of those who would employ threats of violence to suppress political opinion.
Pruitt has millions of supporters, if they proposed to employ threats of violence, they are equally reprehensible.
Security on aircraft is paramount for the safety of the Aircraft and all passengers. Very few directors of large corporations (Scott Pruitt is in the same position) even fly first class, most have private aircraft.
I don’t believe “most Americans are furious” to discover a Cabinet Member flies first class, most would assume he was provided with a private aircraft. Criticism of the minuscule cost to the public purse is hypocritical parsimony.
