Pipeline CEOs Vexed? Hold On To Your Hats
Until recently, almost no one noticed the vast network of oil and gas pipelines that were being constructed on top of and just beneath the surface of the United States. Of course, all that’s changed recently with movements like Keep it in the Ground, The Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal, and 350.org. Now, projects are beset with a deluge of protests and litigation that are meticulously coordinated efforts across multiple states.
I had to laugh when I came across this: “The level of intensity has ramped up,” Kinder Morgan CEO Steven Kean said Thursday at the CERAWeek energy conference hosted by IHS Markit. “There’s more opponents, and it’s more organized.”
“There’s more opponents?” What about the agreement of subject and verb there, pal? “Opponents” and “It’s?” How about agreement in number? Maybe you could invest some of the $31 million you were paid last year to despoil the Earth in a short course in remedial English.
More importantly, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet, Steven; this movement is about to become as vexatious as this line from a wonderful movie. Seriously; we’re just getting started.
Craig,
Wow ! That’s a real zinger, Craig, I’ll bet Steven Kean’s really sorry he crossed you your path!
A class in remedial English, eh ? Now that’s really socking it to him !
So far all the irrational and futile efforts of Keep it in the Ground, The Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal, and 350.org, have achieved is make Warren Buffet and his cronies richer, damage the environment and increase support for President Trump.
Pipeline technology is rapidly improving, allowing less intrusive, easier to install and safer installations (even upgrades of older technology), the shrill cries and irrational bleating from “Keep it in the Ground” etc, have only served to strengthen public opinion behind the President and discredit the environmental movement.
The US is not going to commit economic suicide and abandon it’s recent economic miracle created by domestic oil and gas revival for a bunch of misinformed malcontents living a fantasy.
Oil and gas must be transported, the only question is how. Pipelines or rail and road ? That’s the only question. There’s no third option. No one’s going to “leave it in the ground”, no matter how many elitist, sanctimonious grammatical sneering fests you conduct ! The American people will not support hysterical malcontents bent on sabotaging the US economy, even if those protesting conducted those protests with effete grammatical snobbery.
Pipelines are not only more efficient and economic, pipelines are infinitely more environmental than road and rail.
Instead of behaving like Troglodyte Luddites, Keep it in the Ground, The Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal, and 350.org, should be concentrating their efforts into encouraging the development of better pipeline technology.
