Happy Earth Day!
My wife, daughter and I are on our way out the door, headed for the local celebration of Earth Day. As one might expect of a small city whose demographics are heavily weighted towards well-educated liberals, Santa Barbara boasts an absolutely enormous event each year, with many thousands of people learning, sharing ideas, and renewing their commitment to take care of our home planet.
And speaking of the home planet, don’t you wish everyone on Earth could watch the “Pale Blue Dot” video (below)? It’s Carl Sagan’s famous voice-over of an excerpt from his book, and inspired by an image taken, at Sagan’s suggestion, by Voyager 1 on February 14, 1990, from a distance of 3.7 billion miles.
Enjoy it. One more time.
