Real Wages Are in Decline, But Is That a Surprise?

39965745_1071826992990564_1157401331590234112_nAs it turns out, frequent commenter Glenn Doty had his own reaction to the use of the word “stunning” when he saw the chart here that prompted my post earlier today: Real Wages Are in Decline: Who Woulda Thunk It?  He writes: This is not stunning. Every single informed person in the U.S. understood that this would be the reaction when the tax cuts were passed. There was never a doubt. This was the design.

What really is stunning is the fact that the people most affected, i.e., the wage earners themselves, who are becoming more financially stressed by the day, are completely oblivious, and remain totally transfixed by their leader.  They normally don’t get bad news, but if they do, it must be fake.  If it’s uttered by a critic, he must be lying.

This isn’t going to end well.

Poor old Glenn, too traumatized to post his own comments, he now does so through a sympathetic intermediary.

That’s perhaps just as well, since his observation reflects a closed, biased mind. By employing elitist terms such as “informed persons” , Glenn indicates he belongs to a far superior group, elevated above the common herd with knowledge inaccessible (or incomprehensible) to mere ‘deplorables’, is exactly why support for the President is increasing.

What is truly “Stunning”, is the willingness of an intelligent person like yourself, to clutch desperately little pieces of puff propaganda, as prophetically authentic and then have the temerity to claim American wage earners themselves are “completely oblivious because they remain totally transfixed by their leader”.

Oh, what mindless knuckle dragging simpletons you must believe constitute the American wage earner ! No wonder Glenn feels himself far to elevated to engage in debate with the common herd of unwashed proletariat !

Even from you obviously Olympian “elevated” height of superiority, the possibility might occur to you that the vast majority of American wage earners are pleased to see confidence and optimism returning, unemployment being reduced, and economic activity increasing ?

Do you even realize that you come across as a gloating Prophet of Doom, hoping for economic misery and hardship to afflict your fellow citizens, to punish them for electing a President you loathe ?

You are correct, this will not end well for the purveyors of such selfish and negative nonsense.
