Global Warming Statue

Beneath the humor, however, lies a terrifying reality.

Even getting politicians together to discuss the issue is tough.  Each of the 17 Republican presidential candidates in the 2016 election scoffed at Obama for going to Paris. And since then, of course, things have gotten worse.  Now, our top echelon of the executive branch of the U.S. government, as well as most of the Republican-led Congress, consists of people who consider the theory of climate change to be a hoax.

While the rest of the world is developing entire industries around clean energy and transportation, we’re trying desperately, quixotically, to put a few thousand coal miners back to work.

If you think this is going to end well, I’d sure like to know how.

    Craig,

Sometimes, I think one of us lives on another planet!

On your planet “the rest of the world is developing entire industries around clean energy and transportation “.

Whereas on mine, according to the IEA Statistical Review of World Energy), the USA since 2005 annual U.S. carbon dioxide emissions have declined by 758 million metric tons. That is by far the largest decline of any country in the world over that timespan and is nearly as large as the 570 million metric ton decline for the entire European Union.(Germany actually increased).

By comparison, the second largest decline during that period was registered by the United Kingdom, which reported a 170 million metric ton decline. At the same time, China’s carbon dioxide emissions grew by 3 billion metric tons,India’s grew by 1 billion metric tons.is the only major industrialized nation lowering its emissions.

China and India are building huge new coal fired power plants at the rate of one every 18 days.

  2. This is terrible. If those politicians would just forget about money and realize that it won’t matter if we’re living at the bottom of the sea. Especially the one we elected for president. If he doesn’t change, it will be a lot harder for the next one.

    Susan,

When parents don’t have employment and can’t feed their children, they don’t give a damn about the environment ! The neglected blue collar, struggling underemployed and those whose jobs had been exported, elected President Trump.

It’s very easy to say “forget about money’ , when you are happy and safe and lacking for nothing.

It’s easy to be a “Statesman” and strut the world handing out your nation’s wealth and depriving a sector of your own people’s prosperity to gain the applause of the world elite and the admiration of the ‘liberal’ media.

In Washington, Silicon Valley, Santa Barbara, NYC and other prosperous area’s around the world among the elite who have prospered from a a “globalized” economy, people can afford to contemplate such high minded altruism.

However, back in Harrisburg, Cleveland,Detroit,Flint,Topeka,Pittsburgh,Erie,Youngstown,Canton, Steubenville, Gary, Buffalo, Evansville, Mills and hundreds of other once prosperous, now decaying, struggling American cities the citizens have elected a President whom they believe understands their pain and will fight for them, their families and communities.

These people wonder why any American, let alone the President, would care more about the opinions of a few foreign intellectuals than the needs of their fellow citizens.

President Trump is bringing these people hope and optimism as employment rises among the blue collar industries (at least he doesn’t sneer and calls these less fortunate Americans “deplorables”).

The President may have described Haiti and certain other African Countries “sh*tholes, which as anyone who has had the misfortune of living in these places is a completely accurate description, but unlike one of his greatest critics, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Dem) he hasn’t been the pay or been working with the Chinese Espionage Service for the last twenty years !

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, employed an aide who was a Chinese spy as a staffer for some 20 years.

For twenty years her annual trips to China, and her Chinese bagman, John Huang a frequent guest at her San Francisco home with Beijing officials from tied People’s Bank of China and the Communist Party Committee, illegally donating envelopes of cash, usually containing $50,000 a time to her campaign.

Although, Huang was finally caught and convicted of campaign-finance fraud, Feinstein was given a pass by Obama’s FBI, the deputy director’s wife was a close friend of Feinstien.

Beijing still got its money’s worth when President Obama extended favored trade status thanks in part to Feinstein.

\\In speeches on the Senate floor and newspaper op-eds, she shamelessly spun China’s human-rights violations, as when in 1997 she compared Beijing’s 1989 massacre of hundreds of young demonstrators to the 1970 Kent State shootings, calling for the presidents of China and America to appoint a human-rights commission “charting the evolution of human rights in both countries over the last 20 to 30 years,” that “would point out the successes and failures, both Tiananmen Square and Kent State and make recommendations for goals for the future.”

Feinstein also led efforts to bring China into the World Trade Organization in 1999, which gave Beijing permanent normal trade relations status and removed the annual congressional review of its human-rights and weapons-proliferation records.

Feinstein, still travels to China each year with her mega-millionaire investor husband, Richard C. Blum, who has benefited greatly from the relationship.

China has made Feinstein, who lives in a $27 million mansion in San Francisco with a $9 million vacation home in Hawaii, one of the richest members of Congress.

…..but hey, who cares about the jobs of American workers, or human rights, as long as Democrat Senators can afford private jets to be on time to yell at the President !
