  1. marcopolo says:

    Craig,

Poor old Charles Rex, he fought hard for his principles and lost his head to an unpleasantly brutal dictator, who promptly suppressed all forms of representative governance.

The “glorious Restoration” saw the return of King Charles the Second, the eldest son of Charles the First.

Charles 11 was a brilliantly clever monarch who largely invented and developed the modern concept of Constitutional Monarchy. This form of government has provided many nations with some of the most stable and progressive societies on the planet.

In my own family we were equally divided between those who chose the cause of Parliament and Those who fought for their King. Those who fought for Parliament rapidly feel out with the more radical Parliamentarians, and either fled to the Continent retired from public life.

One ancestor stood firm and was imprisoned for a period for refusing to sign the agreement to execute the King Charles, but later escaped to serve with Prince Rupert in his naval campaigns.

What all this has to do with Trump, a President whose powers are clearly defined and restricted by the protocols contained within the very strong US Constitution, is anybody’s guess.

  2. The problem is that what Trump is saying is even more stupid than what Charles I said. what’s worse is that 40% of Americans believe him. If they don’t understand what Trump is doing, then we are surely doomed.
