Unusual Concept in Solar Energy
This gentleman is standing in front of a small greenhouse that sports an array of small solar PV panels. I’m going to guess this was someone’s idea of an aesthetic approach to indoor gardening, as it’s certainly not practical to block much of the sunlight that the plants need. Also, PV on walls isn’t a strong idea because of the angles.
I can’t see the image in question, but a recent article shows how at a solar farm in a semi arid region.
The solar farm in question was at a US university, and it was noted that grass favoured by cattle and sheep grows better under raised solar panels than out in full sun. Soil moisture levels are higher in partial shade, and grass yields are double.
It looks as though it is worth examining combinations of agriculture, and raised solar panels to enhance yields of high value shade tolerant crops in dry areas grown without irrigation (beyond water gathered by the solar panels), and earning extra revenue from the solar power.
