Marrying Cleantech Solutions with Sources of Investment Capital

Return on investment 2017I want to send you this as a reminder that I’m still in the business of bringing together solid ideas in cleantech (mostly renewable energy) with sources of investment capital.

I have a virtual Rolodex of a few dozen investment groups, most of which specialize in certain disciplines.  For example, I just came across an Israel-based team focused exclusively on waste-to-energy using proven technology.  I have another group that does large solar and wind projects, but only those with binding PPAs from credit-worthy off-takers.  The list goes on….

At this point, I need more projects.  I have no requirements vis-a-vis size, technology, or geography.  Anything from seed capital for start-ups to eight-figure projects with decent IRR suitable for private equity is fine.  Likewise, I may be able to find an investor for any flavor of renewables, energy storage, efficiency solutions, alt-fuel transportation, or even sustainable ag.

If it makes the world a better place to live via greater sustainability, please send it my way.

Thanks.

    Craig,

Well done Craig, it’s about time you concentrated on something more positive and constructive, I wish you well in your endeavors.

Just one thing, “a Rolodex” ? Really ? It’s good to see you still using the old methods. I’m sure your Filofax also comes in useful when sending a telex :).

  2. Dear Craig,
Thank you for your reminder mail. I have had the opportunity to correspond with you in the past regarding Low Cost Solar Powered Sustainable Transportation which I am developing here in India. I have built several versions of the Human Size Prototype. Now I want technical support to fast forward the development to commercialize the technology. Kindly connect me with an organization which has the technical brilliance to give the world this new technology.

Can you send me what you already have on it? I’m interested, but there are practical limitations over the low W/square meter of the incident sunlight.

      • Thank you for your reply. I have focused on an Ultra Lightweight Vehicle for Individual Mobility which needs low power since the weight of the vehicle is less than that of the passenger. In India we have plenty of Solar Power. The Prototype Vehicle is powered through batteries which are charged by a Solar Panel. To keep the weight low I have avoided on-board batteries and supplied the current to the vehicle through the tracks. This also helps in overcoming “Range Anxiety” which occurs in battery powered Electric Vehicles. Please let me know how to send the details. I have a Power Point Presentation explaining the technology and a video of the prototype.

It runs on rails? It’s a train? Yes, please send the PPT to my business email (see above).

          Ravindra,

I’ve no wish to pour cold water on any would be developer, but frankly the idea of a mass transit system running on rails in an urban environment, already exists, they’re called Trains and Trams !

Public safety and heavy uses prevents the use of ” ultra Lightweight Vehicles”. The power requirements of such systems is beyond the capacity of any but the largest of solar farms rendering any such systems uneconomic.

The requirements of such systems and obtaining use of the land to install the rails and other infrastructure requires the sort of cooperation only governments can provide.

I really appreciate your enthusiasm for environmentally friendly technology, but to attract investors, you really need to have a fully developed plan, with great detail on how it will be implemented and by whom.

          • Dear Marcopolo,
Thank you for pouring cold water. I thank you for Baptising the project by pouring cold water.
As Marcopolo you traversed the length and breadth of this planet, you did it on foot. Today we need a quantum leap in technology and a paradigm shift in thinking to solve the various issues arising out of 21st Century transportation needs of the people.
Every new technology is rejected initially and then it becomes impossible to live without that technology.
I will resolve your doubts after I send a PPP and a write up to you. Kindly share your email id if Craig’s policy permits.
The proposed technology is disruptive. The issues around transportation will not be resolved through conventional transportation systems.

          • Kindly have a look at this url
            https://www.thedailybeast.com/dr-rufus-henry-gilberts-plan-for-an-nyc-transit-system-powered-by-air?ref=scroll

You will get an idea why we need an elevated transportation system that too with Ultra Lightweight Vehicles.
There is a need to de-congest the roads. In Delhi (India) everyday 1400 new cars are added. Where is the road capacity. Where is the parking space. In the UK in a school the cost of maintaining the big car park is more than the cost of maintaining the small playground.
The proposed technology is for Individual Mobility to enable 24×7 transportation facility. We need a “Time Table Free” transportation system. The Vehicles will be in continuous use whereas a privately owned vehicle is idle for 95% of the time.

      • The Solar Panel is not mounted on the vehicle. The idea is to charge the batteries through Solar Panels mounted on the roof of the tracks. Again the batteries are placed all along the tracks to feed current to the vehicle through the tracks. In Solar Powered Electric Vehicles the Solar Panel is mounted on the vehicle. In this case the low W/square meter of the incident sunlight is a major issue also it cannot be operated at night.
I am looking at a 24×7 Mass Transit Solar Powered system suitable Individual Mobility for the cities where the people are being choked by the emission gases.

Thanks CS, Good to know your likes are still up and going with challenging the green faithfuls in the quest for the holy grail. We share similar views, don’t we, that the looming climate emergency makes the “green development” hassles at hand humanity’s most significant crusade perhaps since the exodus from the primordial cave. At least there’s much the same visionary purpose that’ll ultimately lead to founding a somewhat new civilization – this time one whose energy dynamics is not dependent on incinerating other basic lifeforms. Yes indeed, I aim to make do with that “Rolodex” of yours as well. Thanks again.

    Craig:

I just wanted to send you this reminder that I’m still very much interested in bringing my patented, prototyped and demonstrated cleantech conversion of mostly renewable energy) with sources of investment capital and still hoping you can get your head around it or let me in on your so called biomass expert’s objections so I can help you get your head around it.
