Boom Time for the Word “Resist”

46519041_532893700454903_4253633754808975360_nThe word “resist” has had a good couple of years, given the visceral reaction most Americans are having to Trump’s presidency.  I would bet it hasn’t been used with this frequency since the Nazi occupation of France in the 1940s.  But exactly what does it mean as it’s used currently?

There has been plenty of discussion around that, as suggested by this piece in the New York Times: ‘Resist’ Is a Battle Cry, but What Does It Mean?
I’m certainly no better equipped to answer that question than the people interviewed in the article, but I would define it as:

Refusing to normalize or acclimating to the torrent of moral depravity that is spewing from the White House.  Even though there is little I can do to stop it, I do not accept this.  What’s happening here is wrong, and I will not condone it.  This place may be burning to the ground in terms of decency, but it’s not happening with my support.

Looks like Sally Yates (United States Deputy Attorney General under Obama and Acting Attorney General under Trump for a short time) feels that way too.

And, btw, Sally, sorry to say, there actually is no depth to which he will not sink; wish I could tell you otherwise.  If you think this is ugly now, watch what happens as the noose tightens.

    Craig,

Once again the level of hypocrisy and cant by those who hate the administration and the President is astonishing even for a politically decayed and jaded Washington elite outraged their privileged superiority is being challenged.

Like the appeasers before World War two, these wretched individuals are so full of self loathing for America they will always take the side of America’s enemies as a fashionable cause.

Photographing a politician like Sally Yates in white and a pose of religious purity (although she looks more like an advertisement for soap or shampoo), only enhances the hypocrisy.

Sally Yates was one of President Obama’s legal defense for his covert use of widespread extra judicial assassinations, including torture, of supposed enemies, American citizens, journalists, children and innocent civilians.

Back then, Sally Yates was not the darling of the Guardian Newspaper whose columns railed against the Administrations imoral and unlawful acts. [//www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/feb/05/obama-kill-list-doj-memo]

The President has not “turned a blind eye to the barbaric murder of a journalist”. The President has done all he can, short of breaking off relations with America’s most powerfully consistent Arab ally.

Sally Yates isn’t exactly very truthful herself. Jamal Koshoggi, was not a “journalist” in the traditional accepted meaning of the term, but a publicist and propagandist for a number of terrorist groups, political parties and Iran.

He is a citizens of Saudi Arabia working for the enemies of Saudi Arabia in a time of war. He was killed in Turkey.

Apart for his brief connection as a contributor, not employee, to an American outlet, it’s hard to see why the US President would be interested in the death of this long time anti-American foreign intelligence operative.

Jamal Koshoggi’s death was bizarre and gruesome, but hardly any business of the US.

Interestingly, the Saudi Arabian government could (although it hasn’t) could use the legal opinions constructed by White house lawyers including Sally Yates ( as Vice-Chair of the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee) to justify the killing in September 2011 of US citizen Anwar Awlak in Yemen, along with US citizen Samir Khan, 15-year-old American Abdulrahman Anwar al-Awlaki in Yeman a few weeks later.

The targeted killing of a 15 year old American born citizen while peaceful eating a meal at a public restaurant, was ‘investigated’ by Sally Yates who endorsed Obama White House press secretary Robert Gibbs expalnation that the activities of his Abdulrahman’s dead father justified the killing of his children.

This is not the only instance of Sally Yates complicity in acts far more “immoral” than the current administration.

” Moral Depravity ” ? Really ? Resistance? No, just the sanctimonious hypocrisy from a venal politician with a craving for power.

President Trump has ordered the DoJ to go after his enemies ? ! WTF ! It was Sally Yates who ordered the DoJ and FBI to assist the Clinton campaign by illegal means to ‘investigate’ and gather dirt on the Presidents campaign.

In fact by her own admission, she signed off on the Clinton DNC dossier misuse before courts. She also instigated the spy-gate material being supplied to the Clinton Campaign. She signed off on the use of selective national security letters and misinformation to obtain the Trump campaigns phone record and instigate phone taps which were later leaked to the NYT.

No, Craig, this is no moral paragon of virtue. Photographing her in white will not cover the blackness of her deeds.
