This Mural Says It All
Educated people tend to be tolerant, and loath to drive their cars into protesters at white supremacist rallies.
Educated women have smaller, healthier and more stable families.
Education is the key to productivity and affluence.
Educated populations understand the creeping threat of fascism and ensure it doesn’t happen.
Educated people are harder to fool with “alternative facts.”
Craig,
I would invite you, and all readers to witness the angst of a small American town (Fergus Falls, Minnesota) that made the mistake of welcoming a journalist from the famous German news magazine, Der Spiegel.
The article written by the now disgraced journalist, Claas Relotius, was an appallingly inaccurate and bizarre false depiction of Fergus Falls and the good people who live in the town.
The fact that Claas Relotius has admitted falsifying his article, hasn’t stopped various American ‘liberal’ media outlets quoting from the content and continuing the myths and lies.
I guess we all are guilty of believing in stereotypes, and accepting things that suit what we want to believe without questioning the source.
In recent times I’ve noticed a tendency for you to keep repeating debunked or dubious myths, because you want them to be true, rather than admit being in error.
It’s hard to remain accurate and fair, especially when dealing with emotive issues.
I recommend reading ; [https://medium.com/@micheleanderson/der-spiegel-journalist-messed-with-the-wrong-small-town-d92f3e0e01a7].
I had the privilege of meeting with the good people of Fergus Falls during my American “Odyssey”, and visited the small 60 year old old Hoot Lake Coal plant which is no longer economically viable.
Craig,
Oh, and I forgot to mention, Claas Relotius was CNN’s Journalist of the Year in 2014, and the Guardian newspaper recommended him for an award citing his “rigorous integrity and dedication to uncovering the truth”.
Your silence, remains deafening 🙂 !
What on EARTH are you talking about? I write a post extolling the virtues of education and you respond with a screed about a guy no one’s ever heard of?
MP: I want to reiterate my skepticism that you’re an attorney.
1) I know lots of lawyers, though not a single one who constantly confuses “its” and “it’s,” as well as “your” and “you’re,” and other mistakes that we stopped making in 4th or 5th grade. From two of your recent comments: “Now your getting desperate!” and “Impossible Burger has declined to submit it’s products….”
2) You spend more time writing these attacks than I do writing the posts themselves. You’re also busy trolling other environmentalists’ websites. The idea that this is simply some weird hobby and that you’re not paid by some right-wing anti-environmentalist organization doesn’t hold water.
