When the Federal Government Deliberately Inflicts Harm on the People it “Serves”
Anyone could surmise that climate change could lengthen and exacerbate allergy seasons. But did you know that rice loses vitamins in a carbon-rich environment — a potentially serious health concern for the 600 million people world-wide whose diet consists mostly of rice? Were you aware that farmers face a reduction in quality of grasses important for raising cattle?
No? Well, there’s a reason for that. The Trump administration has refused to publicize dozens of government-funded studies (like these) that carry warnings about the effects of climate change, defying a longstanding practice of touting such findings by the Agriculture Department’s acclaimed in-house scientists.
If you think the Trump administration isn’t directly and deliberately threatening your health and safety, you are sadly mistaken.
Craig,
It’s sad to witness how your desperate hatred against the present administration, is increasingly your dishonesty. Maybe you feel justification in the old adage, “the end justifies the means”, or maybe your obsession has unbalanced your sense of logic and reality.
The sad picture of a hungry cow and calf accompanied by the claim, “farmers face a reduction in quality of grasses important for raising cattle”, is emotive, but another in a long list of deliberate misrepresentations of the truth.
The article clearly states ” elevated CO2 levels lead to “substantial and persistent” declines in the quality of certain prairie grasses that are important for raising cattle. The protein content in the grass drops as photosynthesis kicks into high gear due to more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere — a trend that could pose health problems for the animals and cost ranchers money”.
The report itself states: ” there is a possibility from early laboratory research that elevated CO2 levels lead to substantial and persistent declines in the quality of certain prairie grasses”.
Even given the eagerness of Politico’s Helena Bottemiler-Evich to exaggerate, and your own joy at finding a fellow ‘Never Trumper’, the term “certain prairie grasses” should have alerted you to refrain from adding your own even more exaggerated interpretation.
There is absolutely no field or controlled scientific study to substantiate that increased levels of CO2 affect pasture.(nor do the world cattle need certain varieties of rare prairie grasses to thrive !)
On the contrary, many grasses flourish with increased levels of CO2.
There are no malnourished Cows as a result of tiny increases in CO2 !
What is evident, is during the Obama administration, US government agencies became thoroughly politicized and adopted a partisan activist agenda. The removal of such “crusaders” and a return to a more independent and conservative approach, based on science, not pseudoscience, may not suit your agenda or “crusade”, but that’s what the taxpayer expects and pays for for public servants.
