Trump’s Speech on the Environment
Here, my colleague Stephen Lacey, contributing editor to Greentech Media and host of the podcast “The Energy Gang” (pictured), takes on an interesting question: Why is Trump talking about the environment? Why now? What does it tell us about Trump’s perception of voters’ sensibilities?
The talk really isn’t about fact-checking and discrediting the content for the complete bs in it. Onlookers described the talk as “Orwellian,” given that Trump’s administration has dismissed climate scientists en masse, sent officials to sell U.S. coal at the climate change summit, and rolled back 83 important environmental rules. Rather, it’s a talk about Trump’s base and speculations as to how they think. Good stuff.
Craig,
Nope, it’s basically the same old sermonizing and preaching to the choir with the addition of sneering at the President and his supporters.
Like you, Stephen Lacey, refuses to discuss the advantages of the latest developments in Clean(er) Coal technology. He refuses to debate on these subjects for two reasons, firstly because he’s so invested in his own agenda, he can’t bring himself to objectively listen to any alternatives.
Secondly, also like you, Stephen Lacey hasn’t bothered to objectively explore the potential of Clean(er) Coal technology so he doesn’t understand the benefits.
Like you, he refuses or simply can’t answer awkward questions. When asked how California disposes of obsolete toxic solar panels, he replies, “environmentally recycled”, but refuses to supply details.
Simply ranting against the President isn’t responsible environmental advocacy. Responsible advocacy requires practical solutions that can work within the present economic dynamics.
