Climate Change and a Letter To Our Future
In Western culture, the concept of a “time capsule,” the tucking away of writing and artifacts to be opened at a later date, goes back at least to the 18th Century.
My only personal experience with this subject came in 1964, where everyone at William Penn Charter, the independent school I attended in Philadelphia, was asked to write his name and make a few comments as the school marked its 275th year–all to be sealed in a vault that was opened at PC’s 300th. I remember feeling that I was a part of something big.
Here’s a plaque that was placed on a failing glacier in Iceland.
One has to think that this will be a part of something big as well.
