Nicola Tesla, Rightfully Hailed as a Hero
VICTORY HAS A HUNDRED FATHERS AND DEFEAT IS AN ORPHAN – Popularized by President John F. Kennedy , but coined by the Italian diplomat, and son-in-law of Mussolini, Count Caleazzo Ciano (1903-44).
I snapped this shot on our recent trip, amused to note that Croatia has its own “Walk of Fame,” styled (directly!) after what we have out here in Hollywood, California.
Both Croatia and Serbia take credit for turn of the 20th Century scientist Nicola Tesla, understandable given his hero-status in the seminal days of electrical engineering. As it turns out, he was born in Croatia, but taken by his parents to Serbia as a toddler; there is a huge sign before an exit ramp from a Croatian freeway urging travelers to turn off and check his birthplace.
