WAPO: Trump’s Ukraine Call Reveals a President Convinced of His Own Invincibility
Yes, Trump believes he can’t be touched, and his whole life, from his draft dodging to his dishonesty in business to his sexual abuse of women to his treasonous presidency, is a nonstop series of supporting evidence.
I’m reminded of the metaphor of the Thanksgiving turkey, whose entire life supported one conclusion, i.e., that his farmer loved him. Plenty of food and water, words of kind encouragement, room to run around, and a few cute hens with whom to make chicks. Imagine his surprise when out of nowhere, an ax appeared.
Craig,
Rant, snort, rant, rant, snort ! How frustrating it must be to see each of your allegations collapse until all your have left is vague terms of abuse!
This is your third year of predicting dire consequences for the President. This is the third year all the breathless fire and fury, outrage and indignation have proved hollow and absurd.
Worse, as each new ‘scandal’ is investigated it’s not the President who is indited but his accusers who emerge as increasingly venal and corrupt.
I feel sorry for you as you have become so steeped in obsessive delusions that all you can resort to is parroting the pathetic rantings of the more desperate “Never Trumpers”.
You can’t blame Trump for being a “nationalist” “Anti-globalist” and at the same time “a traitor” ! There is no evidence Trump “abused any woman, unless you count maybe marital infidelity as “abuse”, there is certain no “increasing evidence”.
Like the attacks on Justice Kavanaugh, these are just manufactured scandal desperately advanced as it becomes increasingly obvious the herd of Democrat candidates will be no match for Trump in 2020.
This week the President’s aggregate average poll results were 46%. The democrats fell to 30.7 %. More importantly, the President is winning the black female vote.
Yet, while it’s been a bad week for President Trump, it’s also been a bad week for America, China, Europe and the UK.
The American President, Donald Trump has behaved foolishly, and clumsily in his dealings with the Ukraine. His behaviour and conduct is typical of business tycoons, but unfortunately unwise and completely wrong in a head of a government.
Not only did he display lousy judgement, but provided his enemies with ammunition at a time when they were disintegrating.
President Trump has shown that while in most of his policies and decisions he has been proven a godsend for revitalizing the US, he is at times deeply flawed politically.
However, this is also not a proud moment for the Democrats and media who await any perceived misjudgment or breech of protocol with, by this President with the attitude of a pack of starving, rabid, feral hyena.
The US courts and civil service are just a bad. Political partisan activity has become the order of the day, with the appetite for scandal, no matter how damaging to the nation or public interest, becoming a national sport.
The need for hyper-reactions of outrage and increasingly vitriolic hate campaigns toward an inexperienced and often clumsy President have reached a level of drug addiction!
In Europe, the EU and especially the Euro, are in deep trouble. Today Germany’s outgoing chancellor admitted the economy is in terrible shape and most of the remedies are now exhausted,
The problem has been the failure of renewable energy. The lies and deceptions are coming home to roost as the massive increases in energy prices and bizarre gamut of regulations have crippled German and European manufacturing.
In Britain the peculiar, poorly conceived ‘reforms’ introduced by the Blair government, have made the UK virtually unmanageable.
Trump will easily survive the ‘Ukraine ‘ scandal, He will survive because of the usual over reaction by the media and Democrats. Trump’s supporters will rally around the President and the general public will not react favourably to yet another attempt to reverse the 2016 election result.
At the worst the American people will respond by saying a “pox on both your houses” ! In the end, the President will win, because despite his behaviour he talks about the American people most of the time, while his opponents are focused on only talking about how much they loathe the President.
Had the Representatives and the Senate voted to reprimand the President, not seek to remove him just before an election, the President may have suffered more political damage.
As it is, most will consider this as one more attempt to cry wolf!
The real damage from all this hoo haa, is to Joe Biden. After all, even accepting the President’s inappropriate and clumsy method of obtaining information was wrong, it doesn’t mean the former VP hasn’t got some question he needs to address.
In the end, I believe everyone, even you Craig, should just calm down and let 2020 decide the issues.
The nest election should focus on policy, and the American people not more scandal and outrage.
The US civil service and other agencies should work harder to make the President less erratic and more effective, instead of becoming infested by the current fever of sensationalist “Gotcha” politics.
