War Is an Industry, and Money Talks

20180629biden5A reader notes: We are safe here in (Los Angeles suburb) Granada Hills. Heroic fire fighters kept the blaze about two miles away. Other neighborhoods around us have not been so fortunate.  But what is wrong with this picture? We can and do go kill people with drones and other weapons around the world on a moment’s notice but we are unable to protect our citizens from this actual invasion that happens every year. I am sure that if we devoted similar resources to fire fighting that we do to military operations on the other side of the planet we would be a lot safer. Humans often have trouble distinguishing actual threats from invented ones. They fight enemies that don’t exist and ignore real threats.

All you’re really looking at is the power of money. War is an industry measured in trillions of dollars; fire-fighting does’t make a nickel in profit. I am happy you’re safe, btw.
