Quick Physics Problem Debunks Claim

Can 60 minutes on this bicycle power your home for a day?  Let’s think about that for a moment.  Let’s assume the guy in the pic here is a trained Olympic athlete and can generate 350 Watts. Thus in 60 minutes he can generate 0.35 kWhrs of energy.  Since the average house uses 29 KWhrs of electricity per day, 83 cyclists would be required to meet the claim.

29 kWh a day? That’s a hell of a lot of electricity. What are people in the US doing with all that power. In Britain I believe the average is nearer to 10 kWh a day, and much of Europe is lower!
