Where Mathematics Starts to Get Blurry
We commonly think of mathematics as an objective discipline. Regardless of one’s sexual turn-ons or aesthetic sensibilities of favorite novelists, 2 + 2 still equals 4. One might think this applies to political opinions, but here, things starts to get a bit twisted. We have a president in office now whom his supporters call a “fiscal conservative.” That the national debt has risen $3 trillion since he took office less than three years ago seems to be immaterial.
Supporters of billionaire Democrat presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg refer to him as “socially liberal, fiscally conservative.” That’s fine, until we realize that, as we’ve just seen, it has no meaning whatsoever.
