Education Under Attack from Within and Without

The efforts to which the Trump administration has gone to rip apart public education are disgusting, obviously aimed at manufacturing a new generation whose vast ignorance supersedes even that of our present population. A skeptical mind might conclude that the meme here was actually generated by this administration itself, hellbent as it is on the collapse of the American democracy, which depends for its survival on its participants’ ability to think.

Doing one’s taxes requires no higher math than the arithmetic we all learned by the time we were 10 years old, worst case, perhaps 11 or 12. What these people are saying is that they need to be taught the equivalent of reading “Run Spot Run” in high school. Yes, this is where we are, and it’s a complete disaster, regardless of who, in fact, is orchestrating it.

    Craig,

WTF? “the Trump administration has gone to rip apart public education” ?

The Federal government has very little to do with US education as you well know.(or should do before mouthing of so loudly).

The Federal government affect less than 4% of pupil finding and has even less to do with setting what curricula is taught.

“American democracy” is not collapsing, but your ability to think logically seems to be deteriorating with increasing desperation.

I can understand your despair! This week’s aggregate average of the twelve US major opinion polls puts the President’s support at 45.8%.

This is remarkable considering the controversies surrounding the President.

His support is expected to increase as the scare-mongering concerning Iran and the predicted “World War 3” dies away and the Senate quickly disposes of the impeachment proceedings by acquittal.

With more than 90% of GOP rank and file support, the President will be in a good position to reap the benefits of his favorable trade policies, booming economy and strong foreign policy decisions.

In the latest news, former national security adviser Michael Flynn(the only Trump administration official to face criminal prosecution in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation), has decided to withdraw the guilty plea he offered more than two years ago to a charge of making false statements to the FBI.

The application is being made just two weeks before Flynn is supposed to face his long-delayed sentencing.

The application follows the discovery by defense lawyers of improper, deceptive and deceitful conduct by prosecutors concerning false evidence illegally and secretly provide against the retired Army general.

In more alarming news, it would appear the Chinese are prepared to provide evidence of corruption against the Biden’s.

Not looking good for devout Donkeys in 2020.

    Craig,

Then again, I’ve just realized what at least one democrat Iowa field organizer for the Sanders campaign, Kyle Jurek, means by education.

Jurak said the country will have to “spend billions” on re-education for people that are “Nazified.”

Jurek said Bernie Saunders’ “free education” policies will “teach you how not to be a f*cking Nazi.”

Jurek touted post-war Germany spending money to “re-educate” people not to be a “f*cking Nazi.” Jurek also said that people should “expect violent reaction” for speech, and warned that “Milwaukee will burn” if Sanders does not get the nomination.

It wouldn’t have been so bad if this was just some lone nutter, but he was surrounded by cheering democrats and leftists, some of whom wearing Antifa T-shirts.

Emboldened, Jurek continued BY CALLING FOR the use of gulags for “re-education” of “Trump supporters and praised political labor camps. He said gulags have been misunderstood and were actually “a lot better” than described, noting people were paid “a living wage” and allowed conjugal visits.

“There’s a reason Joseph Stalin had gulags, right?” Jurek said. “Actually, gulags were a lot better than what the CIA has told us that they were. Like, people were actually paid a living wage in gulags, they had conjugal visits in gulags, gulags were actually meant for like re-education.”.

Sadly, until both political parties and candidates distance themselves of these kinds of supporters, political discourse is unlikely to improve.
