Some Remarkably Bad Lawyering in Washington

Yes, Trump’s lawyers are hopelessly unprepared and undertalented.  As someone put it, “This is like watching the New York Yankees play the Bad News Bears.”

Team Trump must believe that the jury of primarily Republican senators couldn’t possibly vote for removal, because each member would, to a person, lose his job.  And that’s not because the RNC (Republican National Committee, the U.S. political committee that leads the Republican Party of the United States) would be angry; it’s because organizations like Koch Industries, that have 100 times that much expendable cash, have made it very clear what will happen to anyone who doesn’t toe the line.

We’re watching an exercise in cowardice, and witnessing what could be the final days of American democracy.

    Craig,

“Koch Industries, that have 100 times that much expendable cash.”

Koch Industries makes no political donations. David and Charles Koch made donations through their private foundations.

However, neither Koch was ever a fan of Donald J Trump and far from donating money to his cause actively opposed his Presidency.

Any “big money in politics” donations in the past, have been made to look minuscule by the multi billionaire line up of Democrat candidate and hopeful Mike Bloomberg who have spent more money just getting the nomination than Trump spent on his entire election campaign!

It’s true GOP Senators have no fear of the RNC, but they have considerable regard for the 90% of rank and file GOP party members and supports who are solidly Trump loyalists.

Commentators and other armchair ‘experts’ don’t seem to understand the nature of a Senate ‘trial’.

The Senate, not the House, decides the rules. In this case the Senate decided to more or less follow the rules established in the Clinton trial.

The Senate is not conducting its own inquiry and prosecution, all the Senators need to decide is whether or not the Impeachment Bill sent by the House meets the standard of proof required, and then decides what action should be taken if any penalty is merited.

The Senate may or may not call witnesses, but that is a matter for the Senate.

The President is currently occupied with the nations business while attending the World Economic Conference in Switzerland.

Support for impeachment continues to fall as the public realizes what a bizarre farce the whole thing has become.

In contrast the President’s support continues to steadily grow, especially among Women, Black and Hispanic voters.

Impeachment has not proved a good tactic for the Democrats, especially as several Senators who are Democratic hopefuls have not stood aside.

In addition, these proceedings have drawn more attention to the now obviously rampant and systemic corruption of Joe Biden and at least 5 members of his immediate family.

It would appear President Obama has some knowledge of Biden’s corrupt family dealings although it’s not yet clear if he personally benefited or just permitted these activities to take place.

The scale of Biden corruption is only just being revealed. Already in the the $ billions, with the latest revelations involving his brother’s corrupt activities in Africa, that figure may increase to tens of billions of dollars.

Why has there been no ivestigation before now into at least five members of the Biden family: James and Frank, his brothers; Hunter, his son; Howard, his son-in-law, and Valerie, his sister ?

Perhaps it’s fair to say none has yet been charged with any crime.

Nor is it these peoples fault if large corporations such as HillStone wish to employ them just as HillStone was starting negotiations to win a massive contract in war-torn Iraq.

Six months later, the firm announced a contract to build 100,000 homes. It was part of a $35 billion, 500,000-unit project deal won by TRAC Development, a South Korean company. HillStone also received a $22 million US federal government contract to manage a construction project for the State Department.

The problem is when the only qualification for the position is the fact that your relative is the Vice-President of the US and gets to travel with the VP, attend official functions, etc.

The conspiracy of silence among media outlets such as NYT, WP CNN and MSNBC is astonishing! What’s even more amazing is none of these journalists even thought it odd that Joe Bidens relatives should be taken on the official “trade” jaunts?

None of these journalists thought it odd that the Chinese would employ Hunter Biden immediately after being introduced by his father, the VP at an official luncheon during trade talks between the two nations?

The evidence is becoming overwhelming, but the real question is how much President Obama knew, when he knew, and how much he benefited.

The other question that must sooner or later be asked, is how much of the furious hatred toward President Trump is derived from fear exposure of how deep and far ranging were others involved in corruption during the Obama era?
