Questioning Fox News Anchor’s Loyalties
A reader, apparently a Trump supporter, sent me the meme here, and wrote, “I’m beginning to question his (Fox News anchor Chris Wallace’s) loyalties,” spawning the following conversation:
Craig: Suppose, gulp, he doesn’t have any loyalties (except to the truth). Wouldn’t that be just terrible?
Reader: Be snide if you want, but Fox News is supposed to be conservative.
Craig: Actually, they bill themselves as “fair and balanced,” suggesting, bald-faced lie though it is, that they have no loyalties.
Craig,
The problem is everyone involved in the Impeachment process is fighting for a decision based on personalities, and political sensationalism, not the Constitution or the good of the American people.
The majority of the media is certainly guilty, while the President’s tweets and outbursts are understandable, they are hardly presidential or even helpful.
Adam Schiff and his team of Democrats are no more relevant, they are aware their task is to make a mountain out of a molehill and the entire thing is just a divisive political pantomime.
The whole thing is a distraction.
Media outlets like Bloomberg are completely compromised as are the five Democrat Senators who are trying to eliminate their chief rival in their bids to become President.
They have no Constitutional requirement to abstain from the proceedings, but common decency must suggest a conflict of interest.
The serious issues uncovered during this farce, such as the possible emergence of a collision of politicians with officials in the public service and intelligence/police to form a “resistance” to a legally elected President, is a far deeper threat to the US political system than the advent of an unorthodox President.
It’s all important to examine the behaviour of Joe Biden and his numerous relatives. This may mean re-examining and tarnishing the “Obama legacy”.
That may be unfortunate, but it can’t just be let to slide.
All the players, and I mean all the players, in this tragedy have not acquitted themselves with any credit. The whole process has taken on the appearance of a bad episode of “Jerry Springer”!
To the President’s credit he has continued to perform his duties as President throughout the entire farce, but and has continued to gain support accordingly.
The greatest damage done to US institutions will be among the media. Fortunately, I believe as the novelty of social media lessens, the hysteria will start to die down as people become inured to sensationalism and return to to more reliable news sources.
The media itself will undergo a revolution with many of the more sensationalist and partisan outlets losing influence.
Within five years the phenomenon that is Donald J Trump will disappear. However, the damage done by the “resistance”, Adam Schiff etc, will live on if the issue of who is really in charge, the elected Executive or unelected officials is not resolved.
