Imagine that you’re on some sort of campus, maybe a university, maybe a large corporation, and you’re desperate to sit outside and do your work or play online, but your device is totally discharged. Isn’t there someplace that has places to make this happen, each requiring 2 tons of materials and an expense of several thousand dollars, not to mention the cost of the patio?
Now think, how many people are going to find themselves in that situation?

The idea behind the patio is a little daft since it would also require a lot of maintenance, however the idea is obviously intended to be a pleasant place in the summer to promote the idea of living with solar energy.
It’s not so much asinine as a bit twee and self-righteously preachy, but hey, who knows? Maybe the local solar panel retailer of a manufacturer sponsored the facility?
Maybe the students at the installation built the garden facility as part of their course, using donated materials?
Who knows, maybe the panels also power electric lawn and garden maintenance machinery ? (This would further help promote adoption of electric alternatives).
