Dismissing Bernie Sanders

It is true that dismissing Bernie Sanders as a “communist” reveals “profound ignorance,” but just how important a mistake is that, in a land in which almost half of the electorate believes that Trump is a honest and stable genius?  The United States in the year 2020 isn’t a nation that merely dabbles in ignorance; we frolic in it; we bathe in it.

Obviously it would be good if voters understood that democratic socialism is the system of government that powers countries like Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

It would be terrific if there were some way to educate Americans in the truth of what’s going on in the world outside of the propaganda they’re being fed.  Perhaps someone will offer a suggestion; I don’t have one.
