A Trump Victory in 2020 Will Require a TON of Ignorance

If Trump’s 2020 campaign is going to succeed, it will require a huge amount of ignorance, as the Republican rallying cry is aimed to convincing voters that there is no difference between a country whose government addresses its citizens’ needs and Stalinist communism.

They have their work cut out for them, however, as most people are capable of seeing that “democratic socialism” is working very well in countries like Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

Having said that, profound levels of ignorance, though certainly not confined to the United States, lie at the core of American life in the 21st Century. It makes for an easy life, free of the pain of doubt and investigation.

As Gustave Flaubert wrote, “To be stupid, selfish, and have good health are three requirements for happiness, though if stupidity is lacking, all is lost.”
