Using Public Transportation to Reduce Vehicle Miles Traveled

Europe has a serious issue with the proliferation of cars.  Last time I was in Copenhagen, there was a 100% tax on car purchases; now it’s 150%.  A $30K car will cost you $75K.

The Netherlands will ban all gas- and diesel-powered cars after 2030. 

Most large European cities have gone to great lengths to encourage bicycling (and walking).  16 of the top 20 bike-friendly cities are on The Continent.

Want to really eat into VMT (vehicle miles traveled)?  Make public transportation completely free; Luxembourg just became the first whole country to do so.
